Rom. 1:18 says: “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness”
The apostle Paul always included in his writings the fact that God’s wrath is not a mythical thing. His judgment, His wrath, His justice… these are pieces and integral parts of God’s moral character. It is interesting that man says: oh it’s just a little sin but to God there is no such thing. Sin is what put the Son of God on the cross. There is no such thing as a little white lie or a small indiscretion.
Simply put, the more you allow those “small things” to exist the more you suppress the truth. When you start to suppress the truth it is a bumpy road of ignorance. You tend to want things the way you want them. Any one who is more extreme than you must be wrong and you find yourself in ‘excuseville”
There is only one cure for this disease. It is simple, The Word of God. If you have a tendency to suppress the truth, or say that “oh it’s no big deal” you are not in the word of God enough. God is clear about it, Sin is death! The Word of God is alive, powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword. It divides joints and morrow, soul and spirit and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” When we spend time in His word it will cure those excuses… it will start to transform your thinking and develop an ever growing fear of the Lord and ultimately an Awe of Him. You find yourself not wanting to dishonor Him, not wanting sin, not wanting the least or settling for Lukewarm… You become a blazing fire and the attractiveness of sin, well let’s just say it starts to lose it’s power.
My prescription for excuseville blues…. The all powerful Word of Almighty God! take it everyday and watch the excuses disappear. Amen and Amen!
